Bristol Lodge Local Scholarship Opportunities

Bristol Lodge of Elks No. 1010 is proud to support graduating students through several local scholarship opportunities, including Jacob's Journey.

Who May Apply for Our Local Scholarships?

All graduating high school seniors who live within Bristol, Forestville, Plainville, Plymouth, Terryville, Thomaston or Pequabuck are welcome to apply for our local scholarships.

These communities are within the boundaries served by Bristol Lodge of Elks No. 1010. We cannot accept local scholarship applications from students who live outside our Lodge's boundaries.

Applicants should review the application carefully, complete every section and provide all requested information and supporting documents.

Bristol Lodge and Jacob's Journey scholarships open February 1 and close at 11:59 p.m. on April 1.

Bradford G. Wolf Scholarship

A Bristol Lodge scholarship honoring the legacy and service of Bradford G. Wolf.

Did You Know?

Bradford G. “Brad” Wolf was a 60-year member of Bristol Lodge No. 1010. Brad was the retired owner of Wolf Printing Company, where he began working as an apprentice at just 13 years old. He served eight years in the National Guard and gave back to his community, including volunteering for children’s charity events at Lake Compounce. When Brad passed away in 2022 at age 85, his services included the Elks Funeral Ritual. The Bradford G. Wolf Scholarship carries forward the memory of a man whose commitment to service spanned six decades with Bristol 1010.

Hayes-McCormick Scholarship

A local scholarship presented through Bristol Lodge of Elks No. 1010.

Did You Know?

The Hayes-McCormick Scholarship honors two Past Exalted Rulers of Bristol Lodge No. 1010. George T. Hayes served the Lodge as Exalted Ruler, while Charles E. “Charlie” McCormick's years of Elks service included serving as Exalted Ruler, District Deputy and later Secretary of Bristol Lodge No. 1010. A U.S. Air Force veteran, McCormick also served the Bristol community as a member of the Board of Ethics. His commitment to the Elks continued throughout his life, with the Elks National Foundation remaining especially important to him.

Budd-Murrone Scholarship

A local scholarship supporting a deserving graduating student.

Did You Know?

Albert J. Budd Jr. was an active member of Bristol Lodge No. 1010. In 1959, Elks Magazine identified him as chairman of the Lodge's Crippled Children's Committee while reporting on Bristol Elks members raising money for the local United Cerebral Palsy campaign. Thomas Murrone's service also extended beyond Bristol Lodge No. 1010. In 1992-1993, he served as President of the Connecticut Elks Association. The Budd-Murrone Memorial Scholarship honors names connected to a long tradition of Elks service in Bristol and throughout Connecticut.

Chapin-Tracy Scholarship

Did You Know?

John Francis Tracy was a longtime member of Bristol Lodge No. 1010 who served for many years as chairman of the Lodge Scholarship Committee. A Bristol educator, he taught social studies at both Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern High Schools. He was also a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and remained active in the Lodge, including running the Bristol Elks golf league for 19 years. The Chapin-Tracy Memorial Scholarship continues a legacy closely connected to his commitment to education and the Bristol Elks.

Jacob's Journey Scholarships

Jacob's Journey awards two scholarships each year for Special Friends — students with disabilities — or students pursuing a career working with people with disabilities.

Did You Know?

Jacob's Journey was founded at Bristol Lodge No. 1010 in 2009. Jacob and his grandparents, Janet and Chris, remain actively involved with the annual Jacob's Journey Poker Run and the Unified Spring Dance. The two annual scholarships continue that commitment to Special Friends and to those preparing for careers serving people with disabilities.
